For this search, the databases Cinahl, Medline Complete, and Ovid would be good choices. If you search in one and can't find what you need, try a similar search in one of the others. If that doesn't work, broaden the search even more by using the large search box on the library's welcome page. Below is a search in Cinahl using anemia as a topic to help focus the search. Where you see anemia is where you would put your topic. To find this database, select the All Databases link on the right side of the Library homepage:
Then, click on CINAHL Plus in the alphabetical list of databases:.
In the database, in the top search box , type: anemia
In the middle search box type: guidelines
Then, scroll down until you see the box labeled Journal Subset
Scroll through the box until you see Nursing and click on it.
(Medline Complete has a similar box. Click here to see how to limit to nursing journals in Ovid)
Scroll back up to the top of the screen and click on Search
There will be several articles that could be helpful.
If the headings are not helpful, look through the abstract to see if what you need is mentioned in there. If so, then, scan the article to see if you can find the information Once you do find it, go back and read the entire article.
You could also try replacing guidelines with: "practice change". Be sure to use the quotation marks. They tell the search engine to look for those words together.
